Introduction to Performance Excellence - 1 Day

 

This workshop presents an overview of the Malcolm Baldrige/Washington State Quality Award system and criteria. Become familiar with the criteria purpose, uses, and content. Also, gain a greater understanding of Baldrige core values, concepts, and framework. This workshop is designed for people who have had no previous training about the criteria or who need a quick refresher course. In addition to the general version of the criteria that uses non-specific examples, industry-related versions of the criteria also are offered for public sector organizations, health care, and educational institutions.


 

Executive Overview - 1/2 Day

 

(Note: These workshops are available only for State Employees and Examiners where noted in schedule.) This workshop presents an overview of the Malcolm Baldrige/Washington State Quality Award system and criteria. Our goal is for all participants to gain a greater understanding of Baldrige core values, concepts, criteria and framework. When relevant, organizations will also gain a basic understanding of how to use this knowledge to meet the requirements of HB1970.

 

 

Baldrige Case Study - 2 Days

 

(Prerequisite: Introduction to Performance Excellence, Executive Overview, or prior Baldrige experience) The Washington State Quality Award Program has created a special version of our standard examiners' training course. This workshop provides an in-depth review of the criteria for performance excellence, including analyzing a case study that simulates an award application. Participants learn how to apply the scoring guidelines, conduct consensus reviews, and prepare written comments. This workshop is designed as a follow-up to the "Introduction to Performance Excellence" course.

This course is based on a case study. Participants are expected to read the case study prior to coming to the class. Typically it will take 4 to 6 hours to complete the reading assignment.

 

Preparing and Applying for the WSQA - 1 Day

 

(Prerequisite: Introduction to Performance Excellence, Executive Overview, or prior Baldrige experience) The Washington State Quality Award criteria are a proven approach to improving customer satisfaction and the effectiveness and efficiency of organizations. This workshop is designed to assist organization that desire to complete an award application. You will receive tips, tools, techniques, samples, and a start to finish processes that will lead to a completed application. At the completion of this workshop you will have a step-by-step method for mobilizing your organization to 1) fully address the criteria requirements, and 2) prepare an award application.

 

 

Deep Dive: Customer and Market Focus - 1/2 Day

 

Establishing, maintaining, and growing a loyal customer base is the key to any organization’s long-term survival. Attend this workshop to re-energize your focus on your customers, compliers and/or constituents, and learn how to sustain, build and grow your customer base. Benchmark your organization’s current practices with best-in-class examples and learn specific ideas for building continuous process improvement and learning into your customer experience management. Introduction to Process Management and Improvement - 1/2 Day

 

Competing in the current economic environment requires delighting your customers and customer delight is built on a foundation of streamlined, efficient processes that result in great value. In this half-day session, you will learn the basics, including simple theories and tools behind process management and improvement. You will leave with an understanding of the guiding principles for process management and improvement, key tools and steps to improve and manage any process, and key steps to get started in your organization.

Turning Feedback into Action - 1/2 Day

 

(Note: This workshop is exclusively designed as an onsite workshop for organizations participating in the WSQA organization assessment survey or in receipt of a WSQA (or other Baldrige-based ) feedback report.) This workshop uses a facilitated process, incorporating key improvement tools that lead to the determination of prioritized actionable issues and draft action plans based upon the findings and comments identified in the assessment survey or feedback report.
